During my schooling at BYU-Idaho, I took a Visual Media class where I was challenged to make a set of matching icons around a theme. Since I was at the school newspaper at the time, I thought it would be fun to make some icons around journalism.

I started with a few thumbnail drawings, and then did several drafts in Illustrator. All along the way, I got helpful feedback from other students.

Pencil sketches of cameras, microphones, reporter's hats, glasses, and typewriters from different angles.

I created these icons with the other students at the school newspaper in mind. For many of them, the urgent deadlines and pressure were overwhelming and confusing. I gave these icons a retro 70’s look for a more fun, relaxed, and playful feel. This is what the finished product looks like:
